The 7-Piece Standard
A standard 30 m² hotel guest room (two twin or one king bed configuration) typically includes seven furniture pieces: bed frame + headboard (either wall-mounted or bed-attached), two nightstands (one per side if twin; two if king), a wardrobe (1500-1800 mm wide), a desk (with or without matching chair), a TV cabinet or media console (1200-1600 mm wide), a dresser or luggage bench (optional but common in 4-5 star properties), and a mirror (wall-mounted or on dresser). Some rooms include a luggage rack or additional shelving. The total room furniture cost (panel, mid-range finish) is $1,200-1,800 FOB Qingdao. For a 200-room project, that's $240,000-360,000 FOB.
Room-by-Room Dimensions (Panel Furniture)
Standard dimensions we produce for 30 m² hotel rooms: Headboard — 1800×600 mm (king), 1500×600 mm (twin per bed). Nightstand — 550×450×550 mm (single drawer + open shelf). Wardrobe — 1600×550×2200 mm (two doors, one hanging rod, two shelves, one drawer). Desk — 1200×550×760 mm (with cable management grommet). TV Cabinet — 1400×450×550 mm (open shelf for set-top box, two drawers). Dresser — 1000×500×800 mm (three drawers). Bed Frame — 2000×1800 mm (king) or 2000×1500 mm (twin). All dimensions are nominal — we adjust ±50 mm to optimize board cutting yield, which saves 3-5% on material cost. Confirm dimensions match your room plans before production.
Material Grade by Piece
Not every piece needs the same material grade. Headboard: 18 mm MDF (smooth painted surface, or upholstered). Nightstand: 18 mm particle board, melamine finish. Wardrobe body: 18 mm particle board. Wardrobe doors: 18 mm particle board or MDF if painted. Desk top: 25 mm MDF for rigidity (span without sagging). Desk legs and frame: 18 mm particle board. TV Cabinet: 18 mm particle board. Dresser: 18 mm particle board. Drawer fronts: 18 mm MDF if painted, 18 mm particle board if melamine. Drawer sides and backs: 12 mm particle board. Drawer bottoms: 4 mm hardboard or 9 mm particle board. Using the right grade for each piece saves 10-15% over spec-ing everything at the highest grade.
Hardware Quantities Per Room
Per standard 30 m² room (two nightstands + wardrobe + desk + TV cabinet + headboard + dresser): hinges (soft-close, 35,000 cycles): 24-30 pieces. Drawer slides (soft-close, 50,000 cycles): 8-10 pairs. Handle/pulls: 12-16 pieces. Cam locks + dowels (KD fittings): 180-220 sets. Screws and assembly hardware: 1 complete kit per unit. We bag hardware by unit (not by type) — each carton contains one polybag with all assembly hardware for that piece. This prevents assembly-line workers from grabbing the wrong screw pack and reduces on-site assembly time. The total hardware cost per room is $18-25 depending on handle finish.
Optional Upgrades for 4-5 Star Properties
Four-star and above typically add: LED lighting (3000K warm white strip under headboard and inside wardrobe — $5-8/m installed), charging stations (2x USB-A + 2x USB-C, flush-mounted in nightstand or desk — $12-18 per unit), mirrors (wall-mounted above dresser, 600×800 mm with LED edge lighting — $25-40 per panel), safe (electronic, built into wardrobe — $30-50, buyer-supplied or sourced), and upgraded edge banding (2 mm thick PVC for all visible edges — $1-2 per linear meter). These upgrades add $80-150 per room to the furniture cost but increase the room's nightly rate by $15-30, providing ROI within the first year of operation.
